We’re currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to shape the technical direction of a mission-critical backend ecosystem on behalf of one of the most exciting companies to hit the talent market in a while.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on building high-performance, scalable, secure services, and who cares deeply about clean architecture, code quality, and engineering craftsmanship.

You’ll take ownership of core backend services that power the platform, working across system design, performance optimisation, and database precision.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of robust backend services using C# and .NET, promoting best practices and setting a high bar for quality.

Code Quality & Craftsmanship: Establish and uphold coding standards focused on readability, maintainability, testability, and performance; run thorough code reviews with a focus on correctness and clarity.

• Data Stewardship: Own data-intensive systems end-to-end, driving SQL schema design, query optimisation, indexing strategies, and database performance in transactional environments.
• Architectural Strategy: Define and evolve scalable, secure, resilient backend architectures aligned to long-term product goals.

Technical Decision-Making: Navigate trade-offs, manage complexity, and make pragmatic decisions that balance delivery speed with architectural integrity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Frontend, and DevOps teams to ensure cohesive system design and smooth delivery pipelines.

Requirements

• Expert-level C# and .NET / .NET Core, with a strong focus on clean, maintainable, well-structured code.
• Deep SQL expertise, including performance tuning, indexing, and data integrity within high-throughput transactional systems.
• Strong experience building REST APIs and working within service-oriented or microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience in Azure environments and familiarity with modern CI/CD practices.

A pragmatic, detail-oriented mindset grounded in Clean Architecture principles and engineering craftsmanship.
