Senior AI Engineer (GenAI & Agentic Systems)

$210k – $260k + Equity | W2 | San Francisco (Hybrid)

We are exclusively supporting a San Francisco-based AI lab that is currently closing a significant Series B. While most of the market is busy building "thin wrappers" around existing APIs, this team is developing autonomous agentic frameworks that solve complex, multi-step business logic for the Fortune 500.

This is a high-autonomy environment. They need an engineer who can move at startup speed without compromising on the core architecture. You’ll be working alongside ex-DeepMind and OpenAI researchers, taking their models and turning them into stable, production-ready systems. If you’re bored of "prompt engineering" and want to get into the weeds of fine-tuning and RAG optimization, this is the seat you want.

What you will be doing

• Designing and implementing proprietary RAG pipelines for high-accuracy retrieval.
• Fine-tuning open-source LLMs (Llama 3, Mistral) for specific enterprise use cases.
• Optimizing inference performance and managing GPU resource allocation.
• Working side-by-side with the founders to define the roadmap for autonomous agents.
• Building the evaluation frameworks that prove these models actually work in production.

What they are looking for

• A proven track record of shipping production-level AI features.
• Deep proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Vector Databases like Pinecone, Milvus, or Weaviate.
• A "builder" mindset, you care about latency, accuracy, and the end-user experience.
• Previous experience in a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.
