DevOps Engineer

MRJ have partnered with a fast-growing tech company that’s done with “good enough.” Their platform serves tens of thousands of users, and sloppy infrastructure isn’t an option. They need a DevOps engineer who brings order to chaos, automates the tedious, and builds systems that actually let teams move fast.
"We’re looking for someone who gets excited about doing things the right way, Kubernetes, GitOps, automation-first. You won’t just patch problems; you’ll define how engineering operates for years to come."
If you thrive on tackling root causes, turning messy systems into reliable pipelines, and empowering squads to ship confidently every day, this is where you belong. Azure, AKS, CI/CD, observability, and security aren’t just buzzwords... they’re your playground.
The Opportunity:
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of engineering delivery. Your work decides whether squads ship daily with confidence or get bogged down in manual processes and flaky deployments. You’ll maintain and improve Azure-based Kubernetes infrastructure, manage CI/CD pipelines, implement infrastructure-as-code, and drive observability and security standards that let small, autonomous squads operate at full speed.
This isn’t about keeping the lights on, it’s about building, improving, and elevating the systems that power the platform every day.
In essence, you’ll be:
- Own and improve infrastructure: AKS, Azure, Terraform, Docker, Helm. reliable, secure, scalable.
- Run CI/CD pipelines: ArgoCD/GitOps workflows, automated testing, blue/green & canary deployments.
- Drive observability and reliability: monitoring, alerting, logging, incident response, and performance tuning.
- Enable engineering teams: provide tooling, containerization guidance, and automation best practices.
- Proactively improve systems: security, performance, cost optimisation, and disaster recovery.
Core skills needed:
- Production DevOps/platform experience running real systems.
- Deep Kubernetes (AKS) + Terraform/IaC expertise.
- Azure cloud experience and CI/CD skills (GitOps/ArgoCD a plus.)
- Scripting/automation (Bash, Python, etc.) and distributed systems troubleshooting.
- Calm, methodical problem-solving under pressure.
- GitHub Actions, cloud networking, and load balancing knowledge.
- Security tooling, FinOps, and cost optimisation experience.
- Familiarity with SQL/Postgres/Redis, log aggregation, or SaaS platforms.
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure and disaster recovery planning.
