“Rebuild, lead, and redefine infrastructure.”
We’re partnering with a pioneering tech company on the hunt for a DevOps Engineer ready to make a real impact. This isn’t just another ops role, you’ll shape the backbone of their platform, lead a high-performing sub-team, and influence how the entire organisation builds, deploys, and scales software.
If you thrive on technical challenges, enjoy mentoring engineers, and love the idea of leaving your mark on a company’s infrastructure, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
Why this role matters
You’ll play a central role in evolving core infrastructure, optimising environments, and refining CI/CD pipelines. A big greenfield element awaits: rebuilding critical parts of their infrastructure and migrating from Bitbucket to GitHub.
Our client prides themselves on a strong DevOps culture. You’ll be the advocate for scalable, maintainable, and repeatable platform engineering practices, working closely with development, QA, and SRE teams to build secure, cost-effective systems that just work.
This role blends hands-on technical work with leadership impact: from production operations and incident response to Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD best practices.
What you’ll do
- Lead & innovate: Guide the platform team in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects, including the Bitbucket → GitHub migration.
- Optimise workflows: Standardise and streamline CI/CD processes to accelerate delivery.
- Empower teams: Build self-service tooling for Dev, QA, and SRE teams.
- Ensure consistency: Harmonise lower environments with production for reliable releases.
- Mentor & grow: Support the development of junior engineers and foster a culture of learning.
- Document & share knowledge: Create clear, actionable guidance for platform tooling, CI/CD, and IaC.
What we’re looking for
- Cloud & Production Expertise: Hands-on experience with production-grade AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM).
- Infrastructure as Code: Strong Terraform experience.
- CI/CD Migration Experience: Proven work on CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI), especially migration projects.
- Containerisation: Comfortable with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Networking & Security: Solid understanding of networking, IAM, and platform security.
- Database Know-how: Experience across SQL, NoSQL, and data warehouses (MySQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake).
- Scripting: Proficient in Bash, Python, or Go.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Experience mentoring engineers and growing technical capability.
- Collaboration: Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional teams.
