3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer

Northwest | 3 days onsite

There’s a tech-driven organisation with a recognisable UK footprint quietly rebuilding how its platform operates.

It’s a business that genuinely values experimentation, learning and improving how things work. Not experimentation for the sake of it, but thoughtful change that makes the environment easier to run, easier to scale and better for the people who rely on it every day.

They’re strengthening the infrastructure team as part of that journey and are looking for a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to step in as the number two in the function.

You’ll be close to the technical decisions and close to the change itself. The work spans modern workplace, endpoints, identity, virtual platforms and resilience. You’ll have room to test ideas, refine approaches and help shape how the platform evolves rather than simply inheriting it.

If you like being part of a team that tries things, learns quickly and steadily raises the bar, this should catch your eye.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve parts of the infrastructure platform rather than operating in narrow silos
  • Design, test and deliver improvements across workplace, endpoint management, identity and core services
  • Strengthen backup, recoverability and operational resilience
  • Reduce manual work, brittle processes and recurring issues
  • Take incidents through root cause and long-term prevention
  • Create and maintain practical documentation, standards and runbooks
  • Contribute to projects that materially improve how the estate operates
  • Collaborate closely with the Infrastructure Manager and wider IT teams
  • Operate at 3rd line level and participate in an on-call rota

Key Skills Needed:

  • Strong experience across Microsoft 365 and modern workplace environments
  • Hands-on endpoint management using Intune across Windows and Apple
  • Solid exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID
  • Experience or interest in virtualisation, backup and networking technologies
  • Comfortable working across a broad platform rather than a narrow specialism
  • Good operational discipline around documentation and process
  • Curiosity and a willingness to try new approaches when improving platforms
  • Clear communication and sound technical judgement
  • Certifications are useful but not essential.

Next Steps:

We’re supporting this hire directly with the leadership team as they continue to modernise their technology environment.

You’ll get proper context on what’s changing, what’s already been done and where this role fits into the wider roadmap.

If this feels like the kind of environment you’d enjoy contributing to, apply and we’ll take it from there.
