Development Lead – Tech-led Business | Onsite in Central Manchester | £80k + Strong Perks
We’re working with a forward-thinking tech company that’s quietly reshaping how essential services are delivered in the modern workplace.
With rapid growth and high user demand, they’re investing in the next evolution of one of their core platforms and looking for a Development Lead to guide the team.
This isn’t about firefighting or managing red tape. It’s about levelling up delivery, bringing stability, predictability, and energy to a talented team already building quality products at pace.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the end-to-end delivery of payroll solutions: building, maintaining, and planning for future demand
- Lead the team to deliver high-quality features with TDD, Pairing, Peer Review, and Static Analysis
- Ensure the team has the right skills, processes, and practices to succeed
- Derive metrics for schedule predictions and track delivery fidelity
- Support the Product Owner in identifying and mitigating risks
- Reduce dependencies across solutions to ensure smooth operations
- Set clear objectives for line reports aligned to team and career goals
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members’ skills and professional growth
- Collaborate with BAs and QAs to refine requirements and resolve defects
- Stay aware of industry trends, recommending tools or practices to improve efficiency and quality
Core skills needed
- Proven experience leading software teams, including line management and career development
- Hands-on development experience to lead by example
- Strong background in C#, Azure Functions/Framework, SQL Server, and/or front-end (React or similar)
- Solid Azure experience; Logic Apps a plus
- Excellent communicator and influencer with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong leader and motivator who drives team performance
- Detail-oriented with an awareness of long-term maintenance and operational efficiency
- Ability to define a coherent Definition of Done and propose new technology, processes, or tools
