Job description

WMS & Systems Improvement Manager | Southampton | Hybrid | £60,000 + performance-related bonus

Know how to turn a warehouse management system’s capabilities into real operational improvements?

We’re partnering with an established logistics and fulfilment business looking for someone to take ownership of WMS optimisation and help unlock the full potential of its Blue Yonder platform.

With a substantial warehouse operation supporting around 40+ customers across retail, ecommerce and omnichannel fulfilment, there’s plenty of scope to make an impact. The platform is established; the opportunity now is to improve how it’s configured and used, automate manual processes and deliver measurable gains in productivity, accuracy and cost.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll work alongside the existing systems team and partner closely with Operations and Finance. You’ll have the visibility and backing to challenge current processes, recommend better approaches and put those changes into practice.

What you’ll be doing

  • Review and improve WMS configuration across picking, allocation, replenishment, putaway and warehouse workflows.
  • Work with warehouse teams to understand operational challenges and translate them into practical system changes.
  • Own improvements from initial investigation through configuration, testing, deployment and measuring results.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual intervention and improve integrations between the WMS, customer platforms, carriers and finance systems.
  • Use system data to improve reporting on productivity, accuracy, despatch performance and cost-to-serve.
  • Resolve recurring system issues through root-cause investigation and sustainable fixes.
  • Support new customer onboarding and help users get more from the system.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring strong, hands-on WMS experience and an understanding of how warehouse and fulfilment operations work in practice.

Blue Yonder experience would be particularly valuable. We’re also interested in people with strong experience of other WMS platforms who can demonstrate how they’ve improved system configuration and operational performance.

You should be comfortable:

  • Making practical changes to WMS rules, parameters and workflows.
  • Connecting system improvements to measurable productivity or cost benefits.
  • Working directly with warehouse users, technical colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • Using data to identify problems, prioritise improvements and demonstrate results.
  • Taking ownership and seeing changes through to delivery.

Experience with Workato or similar integration and automation platforms would be a bonus.

Your current title could be WMS Specialist, Systems Analyst, WMS Consultant or Systems Improvement Manager.

What matters is your ability to understand the operation, get into the system and make it work better.

Why join?

This is an opportunity to shape how a significant logistics operation uses its technology, with a clear business demand for your expertise.

You’ll have an established platform to build on, a varied customer base and the chance to see your work make a tangible difference on the warehouse floor and in business performance.
