    Technical Architect (Contract)

    • Liverpool, UK
    • £625
    • Contract

Solutions Architect | 6 Months | Liverpool We have an urgent contract opportunity for a hands-on Senior Technical Architect to play a leading role in the biggest technology transformation programme our client has ever undertaken. The Project / challenge The business currently operates across two legacy core operational systems (each with different capabilities, processes and underlying technologies) with the plan to consolidate and replace these with a modern, AI-first SaaS platform, while transforming the wider architecture around it. This is much bigger than simply implementing a new system. The new platform sits at the heart of a complex operational ecosystem spanning courier applications, ordering and operational systems, scanning and measuring technology, optimisation platforms, third-party services, data and analytics platforms and numerous satellite applications. The challenge is to understand how the business operates today, how all of these systems interact, and what the future architecture needs to look like. What You'll Be Doing Working closely with the CTO, Director of Engineering and wider business and technology teams, you'll take ownership of the architecture from AS-IS through to TO-BE. You'll: Lead discovery workshops with business and technology stakeholders to understand operational processes, requirements, pain points and dependencies. Map the AS-IS business processes and technology landscape, including the two core legacy systems, Microsoft ESB, integrations, interfaces, data flows and satellite applications. Translate business requirements and processes into a clear TO-BE architecture and technical blueprint. Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), architecture diagrams, UML diagrams, integration models and supporting architectural artefacts. Design how the new SaaS platform fits into the wider technology ecosystem rather than viewing it in isolation. Define the integration architecture across operational systems, courier applications, optimisation solutions, scanning and measuring technology, SaaS platforms and third parties. Help drive the move towards a modern Azure and event-driven architecture, including event buses, real-time messaging, APIs and appropriate integration patterns. Define how operational and event data flows into the wider data ecosystem, including Databricks and Microsoft Fabric. Establish architectural standards and patterns that can be applied consistently across the programme. Work directly with potential technology vendors, asking the right questions and challenging proposed solutions. Provide technical assurance across areas including functionality, scalability, resilience, performance, security, cost, telemetry/observability and supportability. Help define the transition from today's architecture through implementation, migration and ultimately decommissioning of the legacy platforms. Person requirements: Strong experience as a Technical Architect / Systems Architect | Solutions Architect. Evidence of personally designing architecture for major core system replacement, modernisation or transformation programmes. Strong experience moving from business process and requirements through to technical architecture and HLD. Experience designing solutions across complex estates involving multiple systems, interfaces and third parties. Strong knowledge of Azure architecture (preferred but any cloud based transformation is fine). Experience with event-driven architecture, event buses, real-time messaging, APIs and modern integration patterns. Experience working with legacy ESB environments and designing the transition towards modern integration architectures. Good understanding of modern data architecture; Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric would be particularly relevant. Experience working with SaaS vendors and providing technical assurance during selection and implementation. The confidence and technical depth to challenge vendors and ask the right functional and non-functional questions. Strong stakeholder and workshop leadership skills with the ability to communicate architecture to both technical and non-technical audiences. A pragmatic, hands-on approach, someone comfortable operating at both the big-picture architecture level and deep within the detail. Contract Details Contract: 6 months IR35: Outside IR35 Rate: £625 per day, with some flexibility for the right person Location: Liverpool / Hybrid

Lead AI Engineer | Leeds (at least 1 day per week) Why join? They are growing fast, winning serious enterprise work, and building an in-house AI capability that moves quicker than the competition. With a raft of new projects ready to go in, they are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join their team. What you’ll be working on Leading the backend development of products for a diverse client base, from early-stage HealthTech startups to globally recognised automotive brands Building and evolving production-grade backend systems, APIs, services and integrations that are reliable, scalable and built to last Owning the technical direction of the backend, making pragmatic decisions around architecture, infrastructure, integrations, performance and maintainability Working across the Microsoft technology stack, with strong hands-on development across .NET / C#, Azure, APIs, databases, cloud services and distributed systems Taking ownership from technical discovery through to delivery, working closely with product, frontend, data and client teams to turn requirements into robust technical solutions Leading and mentoring other developers, setting engineering standards, reviewing code and helping the wider team solve complex technical problems Working across multiple projects and technologies, adapting quickly to different client environments and choosing the right approach rather than forcing everything into one pattern Supporting the continued growth of our backend capability, with new projects and client requirements coming through that will need someone who can provide both technical leadership and hands-on development Who we’re looking for We're looking for a Lead Developer who is still very hands-on. Someone who can take ownership of a backend problem, work out the right architecture, get stuck into the code and then help the wider team deliver it properly. Service Design | London | 3 Month Contract We’re looking for an experienced Service Design / Target Operating Model Consultant to join a major business transformation programme focused on redesigning how a leading European marketplace supports, retains and grows its network of owners. The Project: Designing a New Owner Account Management Model The business supports a large and diverse network of owners across multiple brands and European markets. They now want to fundamentally rethink how those owners are managed and supported. Rather than applying broadly the same service model to every owner, the ambition is to design a tiered, proactive Account Management model that segments owners based on their value, needs and potential, and provides the right level of service, engagement and intervention for each segment. This is a genuinely greenfield piece of work . You'll help answer questions such as: How should owners be segmented? What level of service should different owner groups receive? Where should Account Managers focus their time? What should proactive vs reactive engagement look like? What activities should sit within Account Management versus central service teams? What should trigger intervention, retention or growth activity? How should the model scale consistently across different European markets? The end goal is to create a clearly defined, scalable future-state Account Management and service operating model that improves owner experience while focusing resource where it creates the greatest value. What you'll be doing Design a new tiered / segmented Account Management service model based on owner value, needs and potential. Define the future-state customer/owner journeys and service propositions for different segments. Establish clear service levels, touchpoints, interventions and engagement strategies for each owner tier. Define how Account Management resources should be deployed across different owner segments. Design the balance between proactive Account Management and reactive service/support. Define roles, responsibilities, hand-offs and ownership across Account Management, Service and Retention teams. Work directly with frontline teams and leadership across the UK and Denmark to understand customer needs and operational realities. Translate the proposed model into a practical Target Operating Model that can be implemented and scaled across Europe. Facilitate workshops with senior operational and customer stakeholders to challenge existing thinking and shape the future model. Identify the processes, capabilities, measures and ways of working required to successfully deliver the new service proposition. What we're looking for We’re looking for someone who has genuinely designed new customer, member or account management service models, not simply mapped or improved existing processes. You could come from a Service Design, Target Operating Model, Customer Strategy, Operating Model Consulting or senior Business Transformation background. Most importantly, you'll have demonstrable experience of designing tiered or segmented service models where different customer/member groups receive differentiated levels of service. Experience within B2C, marketplaces, travel, hospitality, membership, subscription, eCommerce or businesses managing large customer/partner networks would be particularly relevant.
