Lead Creative Designer – BEAUTY BAY Creative Design Team

A creative opportunity in Manchester like no other

BEAUTY BAY’s mission is to be the number 1 global destination for the young beauty obsessed and this this exciting new role will directly be working towards smashing this target. We are on the lookout for somebody dedicated to pushing creative boundaries in digital retailing who thrives on leading and getting the best out of a team.

As creative lead, you’ll manage the creative design team to ensure ideation, conception and resulting creation is innovative no matter how big or small the brief. Our content needs to instantly grab the attention of our digital first beauty savvy customers whilst meeting our storytelling and commercial objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

Lead the creative design team, to produce best in class content that meets the objectives of the briefs
Spark creativity with effective and motivating leadership
Work as senior peer within the wider creative department, alongside a studio team and Art Director to produce the content, own brand creative team and projects traffic manager
Be a hands-on member of the creative team who leads, but also gets stuck into the detail, working on a variety of briefs as part of daily tasks
Be a key stakeholder in strategising both brand and commercial campaigns, delivering novel creative concepts whilst ensuring consistency of content throughout all touch points and executions

You are a creative design professional who is fiercely proud of your ability to turn ideas into something exceptional
You’re comfortable working on all aspects of a creative project lifecycle. This may include: strategising, running design workshops, mediating focus groups, storyboarding, concept creation, content creation, final delivery and evaluation
You’ve managed and mentored teams of creatives
Your portfolio is on another level
Digital design thinking is in your blood
You get beauty
You have worked in or can demonstrate an understanding of a retail environment
You understand and the importance of the balance between commercial and brand objectives
You’re a confident and clear communicator and comfortable challenging opinion
You’ve worked in a fast-paced environment where the only constant is change!
Collaborative working style comes naturally
You have work to an advance level in Adobe Creative Suite
Have worked in or can demonstrate an understanding of a retail environment
You understand and the importance of the balance between commercial and brand objectives

Our CEOs are two of life's rebels who founded the business with no formal training, just heaps of passion. We started out life as a fragrance retailer and quickly discovered a whole universe of beauty, just waiting to be brought to the UK – now the world. In September 2018, we launched BEAUTY BAY branded products, starting with the revolutionary Colour Theory collection. A collection of 32 pan eyeshadow palettes that detailed a step by step guide offering make up lovers of all levels guidance on how to achieve a MUA-standard look. Over the last year BEAUTY BAY products have gained 2.2 million engagements, 31 million impressions and been shipped to 93 destinations.

Our customer’s live and breathe for beauty, and the social-first community being obsessed brings. As a response to this, in July 2019, we relaunched to further deliver a seamless retail and lifestyle experience. Editorial content now sits next to new-in products on a spilt screen homepage with innovative scrolling SHOP and DICSOVER headers. Content is woven into every element of the shopping experience.
