Skills you’ll need:
- Highly Experienced in: Playwright or Cypress
- Test Design and Strategy: Proficient in various testing techniques and strategies, able to plan test approaches for features and select the most suitable technology.
- Quality Advocate: Balances quality expectations with delivery deadlines to ensure a high-quality product.
- Effective Communicator: Clearly explains complex technical issues to diverse teams.
- Team Player: Collaborates and supports colleagues across departments and teams.
- Solution-Oriented: Negotiates and compromises to find solutions that consider best practices, efficiency, and long-term maintainability.
- Knowledge Sharing: Actively shares best practices and promotes continuous learning within the testing community.
- Test Automation Champion: Advocates for leveraging tools and methods to improve test coverage and delivery speed.
- Data-Driven Quality: Analyses data to identify quality issues, gaps in coverage, user behaviour, and areas for improvement.
- Production Judgment: Makes informed decisions about the tolerability of software issues in production based on potential impact.
- Defect Management Expertise: Efficiently identifies, reproduces, and reports software issues, facilitating swift resolution.
- Prioritisation Skills: Triages and prioritises software bugs based on severity and impact. (This combines the two points about making judgment calls.)
Who you are:
- Quality Gatekeeper: Verify that fixes address identified defects or stakeholders accept the mitigated impact. Ensure releases meet quality standards and approve deployments.
- Acceptance Criteria Champion: Collaborate with the product team to define and manage acceptance criteria for features.
- Test Advocate: Maintain and update test packs, tools, and methodologies to ensure comprehensive testing.
- Non-Functional Testing Expert: Take ownership of non-functional testing, ensuring aspects like performance and usability are evaluated.
- Testable Requirements Author: Write clear and executable acceptance criteria for features.
- Testing Coverage Champion: Measure and track the effectiveness of both functional and non-functional testing.
- Delivery Lifecycle Focus: Maintain awareness of the entire product lifecycle, from concept to ongoing maintenance. (This combines the idea-maintenance point.)
- Continuous Learner: Manage your own training needs with guidance, attend industry events, and share acquired knowledge with colleagues.
- Collaborative QA: Provide cross-team QA support as needed and collaborate with other product teams.
